Moving on up....

Well has it really been 5 months since i last posted on here. In that time we have been to many many shows and toy fairs and have seen countless stock come and then go. However the biggest news in that time has to be a the shop move. After many years of trading (nearly two decades) of being at 120 High Street we decided to move to a new shop at Clevedon Craft Centre. We closed in Yatton on the 24th of December 2016 and re opened in Clevedon on the 10th of Janauary. Even though that was a fortnight ago we are still putting stock back out and getting how we want it.

Im going to try to update this once a week with info about new releases and announcements but dont hold me to that.

Time waits for nobody....

Freddie Mercury once sang "time waits for nobody" and i can certainly understand that lyric. Its been 3 months since my last update which shocked me a little as it seemed only the other day we were getting ready for the summer. Now as i write this we have about 2 days left of summer and then the autumn will be in the air.

And with that it brings us into the modelling season again, we have a packed program between now and the new year and we have many exciting things that will be going on in that time. One of the biggest will be that we are going to start stocking plastic kits and increase our range of kit accessories including tools. A space has already been made in the shop for the shelves and once ive found the time to put them up we can being stocking them.

You may also notice if you visit this week that we have two layouts in the shop. One is OO and called Studley, the other in N called Westleigh. The n gauge one is going to become a shop only layout whereas the oo gauge layout is my personal one and it will be appearing at the West Wiltshire Model Railway Circles open day at Steeple Ashton village hall on the 24th of September. This is another reason i havent put the new shelves up yet.

Anyway i will try and keep this updated at least once a week (im not taking bets) so keep any eye out for the latest news!

Its been a long time

Well first off an apology. I know i said i would try and update this every week and so far that has not only failed but has been withdrawn and sent to the scrapyard and promptly cut up, or at least thats what it looked like.

Whats reason behind no updates? The same one most people use, Time! As Freddie MErcury sang "Time waits for nobody" and nothing is more true in the model shop world. There is always something else to do. As i look now ive got a secondhand collection to process through, orders to place, parcels to pack and ive agreed to take a layout to the NGS agm in Corsham on the 16th of July. Only problem is the layout has no wiring and needs the scenics finishing, nothing like a challenge then!

Also as i speak my other half is busy preparing for a show which does mean we will be closed this coming Friday and Saturday 3rd and 4th so you may be dissapointed if you turn up but we will be back on Monday the 6th at 10am.

Anyway even though this is a short update it will hopefully get back on track with regular weekly updates from now on.........

Now open!!!

Well the opening day has past and we now find ourselves getting down to the business of running a model shop. We have changed the shop interior to open it out and display alot of the products better. We are also in the process of building a layout/test track for the shop so all your new purchases can be tested. This will be on dc and dcc.

We are also in the middle of our sale period. There is currently 10% of all Locos, Coaches, Wagons, Trainsets and Scenics. We also have 20% off all scaledale and scenecraft ready made buildings however we are only running this until the end of February so come on down and get a bargain.

We had a very successful day at the NEC toyfair and are looking forward to our next one at Exeter Westpoint this coming sunday so hopefully we should see some of you there.

Once the shop is how i want it i will update this with some photos although we now have our new sign up on the front of the shop and even if i do say so myself im very proud of it.

Anyway a delivery has just arrived so lets get some new toys on the shelves.

Its the final countdown

Well we are now into the final week before we open. All those last minute jobs are being done and we now cant wait to get on with it. The shop will be having a small makeover which we hope to have completed by the 10th when the sale will start.

We had a very successful visit to the Shepton Mallet toyfair and we can wait to get on and attend the NEC toyfair on the 14th and Exeter Westpoint on the 21st. We are also looking to attend new events so if you run a toyfair or a model railway exhibition then please get in contact with us.

Anyway only a short one today. There still too much to do.

Keeping up with time

Welcome again
Time, its a funny old thing isnt it. As i sit here now typing this i realised my plan to do an update every monday didnt quite go to plan even by the second week of operation. Whats the reason for that? Well time mainly or the simple lack of it. Many people think people who run their own businesses can keep 9-5 hours but that simply isnt the case. Only last night i was online at 9.30pm processing and order that had been put through.
I suppose in this 24hr a day operation now of online selling its an occupational hazard but still there is never enough time. Even as i write this im photographing more stock to go online this evening. Ok per item it doesnt take long but if you have 30 or 40 items to do those few minutes begin mounting up and a few minutes turns into a few hours.

Am i complaining about any of this? No of course not, this is what i enjoy and its great to meet so many people who share my enthausiasm for the hobby and want to see it flourish and grow and hopefully long may it continue.

On a side note my layout Llwydd town will be appearing at the Calne model railway show on the 23 and 24th of January and Calne Leisure Centre. If your going dont hesitate to stop and say hi.
